privacy
This is a small academic website. It has no accounts, no forms, no newsletter and no login, so there is nothing here for you to sign up to and nothing for us to store about you.
what we collect
- No cookies are set by this site. We removed Google Analytics in August 2026 precisely because it set a two‑year identifier in your browser. If you visited before then and still carry one, this site deletes it the next time you load a page.
- Aggregate page counts, if analytics is enabled: how many times a page was viewed, the referring site, and a rough country and browser. These are counted without cookies and without any identifier that follows you between sites or between visits, so they cannot be traced back to you.
things that are not ours
- Hosting. The site is served by GitHub Pages. GitHub receives your IP address as part of serving any page, and handles it under its own privacy statement. We never see those logs.
- The map on the contact page is embedded from Google Maps. Loading that page therefore loads content from Google, which may set cookies of its own under Google’s privacy policy. If you would rather not, the page also gives the address as plain text and a link you can choose not to follow.
- Outbound links. Links to journals, funders, institutions and code repositories take you to sites with their own policies. We have no involvement once you leave.
what we do not do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no third-party trackers, no fingerprinting.
- No selling or sharing of anything, because there is nothing to sell or share.
- No profiles of visitors, and no attempt to identify who you are.
